Hi I own a M5 of 1992 and recently my battery drains flat due to a 170mAh drain when parked.I could find a solution taking out the GM module (green) ,located under rear seat. Also works when if i take out the fuses of door lock, alarm and interior lights. Then it has a 44mAh drain.Did anybody already experience this fault or can anybody help me telling a method to localize the cause.OK and no no there aren´t any interior lights on!! Welcome to the board! Sounds like you have found some causes, why would taking out the fuses you listed cut the drain unless there was something on or a short? Is your battery in good condition? I do not know what to suggest, maybe some one with some real knowledge in this area will chime in.

Hi ,well of course the battery is brand new and tested 100% OK because of this drain i had ruined my former battery!! charging and discharging didn`t help life!! Ok a strange thing is that only when I remove fuse 30 AND 31 does the drain regulize ... one fuse is not enough
It is very very difficult to obtain of the M5 an electrical diagram.I always have to use one of a 535i or 525 . I have just received from a BMW garage a GM module but the Low version, and so what seems? with this i get a drain of 190mAh instead of my normal 163mAh so that doesn`t help any nice ideas and tips please and another thing not many garages know a lot of a M5 electricity I had a previous problem solved by the highest technical staff, the instructors , by cutting a wire as they couldn`t find and resolve the problem of the computer controlled pre-heating of the interior so I`m hoping to find a wizzard hear you Pat

For the most part, wiring in the M5 is exactly the same as the 535i with the obvious exception of a few minor things.

According to the bently manual, the ONLY devices that share fuses 30 and 31 is the Power windows, power sunroof, and Central locking. It almost has to be one of those.

Fuse 30 by itself is for Interior lights, and central body electornics (ZKE - exterior lights and other stuff.)

I'd say it sounds like something with the central locking or the windows though.

Hi There
I am having a similar problem with my 525 in that the Power windows, interior light, central locking and stereo will not operate after about 2 minutes driving then will resume to correct operation after approx 30 minutes it has me stumped as those things only stop working when driving (suggesting a poor connection) Tried that to no avail so if I find information that helps me it sounds like it may help you also ???
P.S
I also recently had to renew my battery
