I'm going to make list of all the things I need to get fixed and all the things I want to do with the car (new paint job with flames or something and XM radio and bitchin' sound system... that would probably be stolen the next day).

There appears to be a problem the car (325e 1986) to where the gas gauge, speedometer, and MPG gauge doesn't work until after I riden the car for a while. I thought the problem was a loose battery terminal but it is still happening after the terminals were tighten. There could be a short some where, it would cost about a third of what I paid for the car to get it all checked out and I don't want to pay out of my ass just to find out that it was something else.

How do you know if the problem is the alternator? Or would the car not start at all anyway? It is not good when I'm driving and I can't tell what speed I'm going. I can kind of guess from how fast other cars are going (like they do the speed limit) and from the gears and RPM I'm going. Again this guess could be a little off I'm going up or down a hill.

Any ideas? Thanks in advanced for any help or suggestions or flames (I hope I don't get any).

My advice would be not to do the flames. BMW and Flames dont mix. [thumbd]
Check out the board on your cluster. Loose wiring or maybe its time for a circuit battery.
