Hi guys, first post here. I need some help fixing my exterior mirror of my 1998 Z3. The front side of the mirror housing got cracked accidentally and it needs to be replaced. This is the plain plastic side, not the side with the actual mirror. So it looks like the mirror is divided in half down the top. I bought the replacement plastic piece from the BMW dealership, but I can't figure out how to get the old one off. Anyone got any ideas or walkthroughs? I tried searching the net and this site, but no luck. Thanks in advance.

Hi, to remove the mirror housing you need to carefully remove the mirror glass. The housing is screwed together, not attached by clips so don't try and prise it apart. The mirror glass is attached to the adjusting motor by 4 clip positions - at 2, 4, 6 and 8 on the clock face as you look at the mirror. If you push the car side of the mirror glass in as far as it will go, you should be able to glimpse the connection points. A small head electrical screw driver will help you prise out at each position. Take time and care and you should get it out. Hope this helps.
