In my area I dont see many bimmers around but a local junkyard has just received an 89 325 2 door in pretty decent shape with an interesting story behind it. The person who owned it was recently KIA in iraq, and his mother took the car in and demanded that it be destroyed. She no longer wants to see it around and for this reason it can not be titled for road use because she wont sign it over to anyone. A perplexing side note here is that its last title was issued last month (may 18, 2007) according to the autocheck history report. That title was issued in West Virginia, and now the car is in midwest Minnesota. So, either he lived there and she lives here and she had it delivered to MN or she was there with the car and brought it halfway across the country to a random junkyard so she would never have to see it again, or..? i really cant make sense of how it ended up here. Either way she does not have to worry about seeing it ever again because the chances are very low. I dont think the owner of the junkyard wants to destroy it because its a pretty nice car still. I could pick it up for almost literally nothing but is there a way around the title issue? I would almost feel wierd for doing it, but if I were killed in war I certainly would not want my mother taking my bimmer to a junkyard to have it crushed. Anyway, I thought maybe someone here would find it an interesting story. Part of me does not want to go against what that poor mother says but the other part hates to see perfectly good cars destroyed, especially bimmers.

A little update for you here. I have picked up the car, but not before some incompetent clown ran into the drivers side while the vehicle was sitting at the junkyard and broke out some glass, screwed up the door and fender. I was unable to get keys or a title, but have to part out this car. If anyone has interest in any parts, please let me know. Thanks.

You have to understand my position here. If I leave it at the scrapyard, it is pretty much sitting in line to be crushed, and one person already ran into it so who knows what else might happen to it there. There is no keys and no title, I was unable to get them so this car cannot be used on public roads in the united states. If I can get a good deal, and give fellow BMW drivers a good deal on some parts, then its more of an everybody wins situation.

Before i remove the engine or transmission, i would like to test them, but this car doesnt have a key, and without a title i wont be able to legally get a key made so how could i start it without using a key? will hotwiring one of these cars cause problems or anything?
