Fuel octane

Is there a way to measure the fuel octane?. Here in Colombia, this matter is a headache, even more with cars like mine with knock sensors that limits the spark advance when fuel has a bad "taste".

Cheaper if use my tong, but after that "taste" it won't the welcome in the other places.

And Wadula, we have ESSO, SHELL, and some others, the problem is with the distributors that make some "mixtures" not with the brands themselves.

There are lot's of gasonline test kits on the market, but they all cost about $1,000 US.

When knew you live in the Seattle area, immediately remembered a trip I did to Seattle five years ago to visit an electronic company named ZETRON, but what I remember the most is a trip I made to Steven's pass, two hours away from Seattle, I remember too a little town German style right after the pass, I don't remember it's name, but what a wonderful place.

Sorry for this non-BMW story but I was unable to remain silent.
