Old lines

You Probable have a line that is crusty and leaking if you cant find it while the car is reving a bit high then you should just buy one of those cheap leak tester that work with uv lights.

i can smell fuel in the boot (trunk) as well.

i have check all the rubber lines i can see, everything seems good.

are there rubber lines going to the tank?
how do i get to the top of the tank?
can i pull the back seat out, or do i have to drop the fuel tank?

The back seat just pops up... give it a good tug from each side, and I'll come right off. Just the seat part, not the back. under the seat, there'll be cover with a gasket that you remove, and your fuel tank/pump will be right underneath. Maybe check your filler hose to the tank too. read your manual about dealing with fuel... like disconnecting your battery, etc... be careful.

...and as far as I know, you have two fuel tanks... so it might be the rubber line between the main tank, and the expansion tank... heck, you might just have a hole in the top of your tank... it is almost 30 years old.
