I would like to understand what fuses are for what in my fuse box on my '84 318i. I'm having trouble with a particular circuit, that when engaged, kills the battery after the car is turned off for awhile. And, one of my powered seats is not working anymore.

Anyone know where I can find this information?

If you need to find a battery drain problem, remove your negative battery cable from its post (keep the positive connected) and connect a digital ammeter in series between the negative battery post and cable. On this car the current reading shouldnt exceed maybe 30-50 milliamps with the ignition turned off. If the reading seems high, have a helper pull fuses out one at a time until the reading is in that 30-50 mA range. You should be able to tell what number a certain fuse is by using the plastic fuse panel cover, which is labeled with small, white numbers from 1 to 30. If these numbers are gone, the fuse numbers are 1-15 on the inside row, 16-30 on the outside row going from left to right.
