Have a M3 on order and should be getting it in early - mid May. SMG and I'm curious about the rollback on a hill and the use of gradient assist. Do you guys use it? Does the car rollback much on a hill?

Yes, I use it and it works as described in the manual. Just hold the left paddle for about 2 seconds, listen for the rpms to increase and the engine will hold you in place for a few seconds between when you lift off the brake and apply the gas.

I test drove an M3 SMG. The car was backed in on an incline and when I let up on the brake, it rolled back a little, so I quickly reapplied the brake. I pulled back on the left paddle for a couple of seconds, let up off the brake, didn't roll back, and off we went. I had to explain this to the salesman!! Unbelievable, he did not know of this feature. It was a pre-owned '03, already broken in; I should have shown him launch control-lol.
