Headlight Adjuster Problems...

I decided my headlights were adjust too low while driving tonight and decided to raise them up. I raised the passenger side just fine, but while raising the drivers side it fell down. It felt like something broke in the adjuster. It will lower and will then raise, but not as high as it was originally. What did I do? Any help or direction on how to fix would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,
Ron

The adjusters are made of plastic that gets brittle and breaks over time. Mine did and I replaced them. It is a royal pain on the labor side. Probably take you 2-3 hours to do both but it is cheap. Take it slow and remove both entire headlamp assemblies. Disassemble the back of each one and you can access the adjusters. You cannot take the clear lens cover off FYI. You will need special tools...a "star" bit driver to take apart.

Hi Montana. Thanks for the site on how to adjust head lights. Just bought a 94 525i and headlights are way out of alignment. You published a very meticulous instruction on how to but it seems all Greek to me at this point but will try to do it myself. Does the tranny fluid and timing chain need to be changed on this model. It's auto tranny.
