Hi, Im New To This Forum, And Was Hoping Someone Could Help Me With This Problem.
I Have A 91 M5 3.6 With 11800 Mls On The Clock.the Service Records Show That It Had A New Engine Fitted At 60,000 Mls.( I've Had This Varified By The Dealer Who Carried Out The Work. ) The Problem Is That It Runs Rough When Idling And Cruising. Going Up Through The Gearsand Back Down There Is No Problem. It`s Starting And Switching Off Fine. I Put It Into My Local Bmw Garage And Thay Checked The Valve Clearences, Injectors, Exhaust Emissions, Engine Management System, All Ok. The Hoses From The Inlet Manifold To The Engine Were Checked And Some Replaced, But No Difference. I Would Appreciate Any Suggestions On This As I Don`t Want This Small Problem To Turn Into A Big One.

Cheers, From The Highlands Of Bonnie Scotland.

What do you mean idling rough?.....Explain. The older M5's do run rougher than the new ones, that is normal. Now if you are talking about coughing out and barely staying alive during idle then it could be one of the problems thes other highspeed Bimmer freaks are telling you. Don't panic...could be something or nothing at all.
At any rate...good luck and welcome to the board!!!!!!!

thanks for all the info, much appreciated. when idiling it does`t cough or want to cut out. when you let the clutch out and start to move, it runs fine, its just when idiling and crusing its rough.
thanks again for allthe replys, i`ll check them out and let you know how i get on.
