Hey everyone. I'm importing a 1997 528i into canada and I need to install Daytime Running lights to meet federal regulations. What part do I need to get to accomplish this. The simplest process would be the best. The local dealer hasn't been helpful at all.

not sure if it is a part, rather then a code from the dealership to program for the daylight running codes, not sure though, but i think you just go to the dealership and they enter the code, if your dealership is not being helpful, go to another one or call another one up and ask how to accomplish this, BTW if your local dealership is bad call BMWNA and tell them so

So they just hook it up to the computer and away they go. Does it have to be the dealer or would other service garages have the computer to do it. Just a hasssle because the closest one to me is 3hrs away and I would have to tow the car there have it programed and tow it back to complete the inspection before I can register the car.

Thanks for the info everyone. Cheaper solution was to have the local "I can do Anything" guy at canadian Tire wire in an after market set. Worked like a charm. Way cheaper then the $500 to tow the car to Halifax and then the $48 to do the program.
