I have a 1991 535i that recently got an "oil press sensor" light. My oil level is ok and the engine cranks normally but won't start. (Apparently the fuel pump gets locked out until the sensor problem is cleared.) I'd like to try and fix it myself. Can anybody tell me their experiences with this problem and where to look to find the sensor itself so I can try cleaning it. I've changed the oil and filter and oil didn't drain from the filter housing indicating the check valve is ok. It's got to be the switch or oil pump. Thanks for any help or advice. dh

Update: Last night the mechanic I took the car to replaced the oil pressure sensor and called to say the car started and ran great. Pick it up in the morning. This morning he called back to say the car wouldn't start. So far we're $450 into diagostic costs. So far all he can find is no spark. Any thoughts???? He thinks maybe a bad computer. Any idea what one would cost?

...bad computer is a common response on mechanics... I don't believe it would be the computer. is there gas pressure to the entry fuel line?
