Help..... with performance chip uninstall

I need to replace the performance chip which came with my car with the original chip. The car was sold with the perf. chip and I need to replace it with the original to pass smog check. I tried lookign for resources but no to no avail. the BMW e30 network had an article but it doesnt apply, as I have pulled out the unti and trying to figure out how to remove the upper PCB board to get to the lower board with the socket. If anyone has any expereice would be very grateful.

chip will not affect the smog check

but you will not believe this YET.

I don't know what chip you have but both my cars passed with chips, one of them an '86 325es. I had a problem with one car but it was the catalytic converter, not the chip. What are the symptoms?

There are no symptoms, the BMW mechanic looked at the (failed) smog report, this is after having the catalytic convertor and oxygen sensor replaced. I asked him if the perf chip will effect the smog test and he told me it would, and to replace it. I feel much better now after having read your posts.

The instructions I was looking at were pointing me to remove the PCB board from the wrong side. I just got into it with ease and looked inside...it is a TC motorsports chip...so I'll keep it in there and go take the test.
