Not sure on your model, but my 1998 540i, it is located in front of the passenger side wheel well. If you look at the passenger front tire, you need to remove the plastic guard closest to the front inside the well. This will allow you access to the temp sensor. It is on the bottom and clips in to the molding piece.

If it is not there on yours, they are usually near the groud in the front. Look underneath with a light and look for it, or wires dangling where it used to be.

FOr the cabin air filter, I'm not too sure. Mine are located under the hood on both sides near the windshield. If you mean the one inside the cabin, I don't know.

Thanks for the reply. That was helpful. I found the temp sensor but pricey, cost $50 CAN and cabin filter $55 CAN. Definitely need to change cabin filter, all clogged up!! but don't know how to do it yet. No manual.

In my 92, it's behind the center console ish. You get to it by taking out the glove box and the carpet panels on the passenger side.

I think it's in my manual. I'll look for it tomorrow and then I'll be able to tell you more specifically.

Thanks Justin. Looking forward to your next post. I'm new to this forum and a 1st time bimmer owner. How do I attach pics to my messages? Dumb question I must admit. Thanks.

Ok, assuming that the cabin air filter you're looking for is the A/C microfilter, here's how to get to it.

Remove the glove box:
Open glove box and disconnect support straps from left and right sides.
Working from underneath glove box, unlock left and right pivot clamps from left and right corners of glove box.
Lift out glove box.

Remove screws retaining right and left side carpeted console trim panels.

Remove trim panel from above glove box.

Remove two screws retaining ventilation duct and remove duct. (Has a reference to a picture for this step, let me know if you need it.)

Remove cover from microfilter housing. (Has a reference to a picture for this step, let me know if you need it.)

You should bee able to just pull the filter out from here.

As for attaching pictures, if you go to the advanced post editor, there is a section below the reply box labeled "Additional Options," and there is an option there to attach files.

Hi Justin. I was able to remove glove box, trim panels and ventilation duct. But can't seem to find where the filter is located. Is it above where the glove box was, under passenger air bag?? Where is the microfilter housing located? Will appreciate if you have a photo. Thanks

It's behind the trim panel to the left (on the center console).

I'm actually on vacation right now, so I may not have a chance to get you that picture for a few days. I do have my manual and camera with me, though. If I have some free time tomorrow or Monday I'll pop it up here.
