The good news is I found that there is a network of BMW military sales divisions that sell BMWs to American servicemen serving abroad at a no-negotiation price.
I can get an M3 for $42.2k plus standard list price for any options I want. That's less than I've seen used M3s going for. I checked that vs. the Edmunds list price and its a savings of about $5k assuming you can find an M3 for retail.
