1987 BMW 325e, HORN AND WINDOWS INOP. The horn stopped honking two weeks ago. This week the windows up and down controls stopped working. I checked the fuses and the child locks for the windows. Where is the horn location? I can't find it without taking the spoiler and undercarriage apart in the front, underneath by the radiator? Any suggestions.

On my 86 325 ES, the horn is located just forward and above the left front wheel well. I think you should be able to get to it by removing the wheel well skirt, jacking the car up a little, sticking a light under there, and reaching up.

The windows may be a fuse, but another possibility is that the circuit breaker crapped out (the child lock button is also the circuit breaker).

The horns are likely not related to the windows. The inoperative horns are likely due to a bad horn relay.

My BMW looks just like yours. I removed the plastic wheel skirt like omw41 said. I can see both horns on the right and left side. I removed the two connectors on both horns and tested them with an ohm meter. Both horns are good. I can hear a very low clicking noise when I press the horn buttons on the steering wheel.

Does anyone know what and where the horn contacts are?

I double checked fuse #7 and tested the K2 position on the fuse box for the horn relay. Each metal prong on the light blue relay tested good on the ohm meter.

I also pulled the child window lock button and that tested good on the ohm meter.

Anybody have any other suggestions?

Scott

Good news. I got the horn working. It was the wiring connections in the door jam that connect the inside compartment wiring harness to the door.

Does anybody have a graphic of the wiring diagram for the door jam? I need to know which one is for the electrical window controllers.

Fixed the windows problem. It was the fuse. It didn't break, but was defective. So basically it was the relay and fuse for both issues. Happy BMW owner again.
