How do i determine the year a car is manufactured just by looking at the car itself without having to rely solely on the documentations forwarded by the used car dealer?

Lift the bonnet and look at the stamped production plate on top of the shock-towers and the build date is riveted there.

It might also be in the drivers side door frame. I know it is on US vehicles.
