I am going to put some top quality performance tires on them. Then I will take my old rims and have them repainted shadow chrome. I will then put some good quality street tires on them. When I want to be real agressive, I use the powder coated ones. Every day, I will sue the shadow chrome ones. Man I must be bored.

so what are the specs on the new wheels? are they Z3/M "roadstars"? 16" or 17"? how wide? great deal though! i have the stock 96 16" wheels on mine, all info i've found says that the staggered M set-up won't fit on my car. too wide in back for the fenders? i'm going to just leave the stock wheels on until i find a suitcase full of money or find a good deal on a set i like, i haven't taken a real shining to any aftermarket wheels yet but i do like the factory M "roadstars" with the deep offset rears! sleeper wheels for now...

Yes the rims are stock BMW M roadster wheels. They are 17's, the fronts being 8.5 wide and the rears 9.5. The only thing not stock about them is they have been powder coated. You are correct, the 96 rear fenders are narrower than any of the 6 cylinder models, therefore the rear wheels would stick outside the fenders due to offset. You might be able to get four fronts and see if that will work for you.
