So i did it everyone. I bought an ebay chip. Call me an idiot, call me a sucker, but i had to do it. It cost me 33 dollars with shipping and I have no idea what it is. But I gotta tell you, it was the best 33 dollars I have spent!

I can definitely feel the difference with this chip. Limiter is now at just below 7000 and it pulls all the way up there. I raced my roomate's car before i bought it and then after i put it in. I pulled away from him a lot better than i expected. Before we were almost the same power.

The best part is the gas mileage. I horse my car everywhere. Litterally everywhere and every day. I got 24 miles to the gallon this past fill up. Even though i have to buy 91 or better now I'm still saving money. From my calculations.

I know its not as good as the J conforti, but i love it. For the price...... wahoo! good times.

I know there was a thread about the ebay chips before, and everyone said stay away from them but i couldn't resist. I guess it worked out. I was so skeptical the whole time but he actually sent me one and my car didn't blow up. haha.

I figured the engine is getting near rebuild time anyway... why not. Turns out i can still hold off on the rebuild. I'll wait maybe a year for that. This weekend i'm doing the timing belt, tensioner, and water pump. Can't take any chances. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

thanks, haha yeah that is what i was thinking... not that i have 30 dollars to throw around but i was really really hoping it would be great. As soon as i clicked buy i got real antsy and had that pit in my stomach like "you moron." Then i kept telling myself i wouldn't get it and that it wouldn't work if i did get it so i wouldn't get myself excited about it until i saw that it actually did work. THAT was a great moment, the first time my tach flew up to almost 7000!

did you check for how long your engine can take those high revs? i mean, not to reduce your success with this buy, but always remember that 7000 is somehow really high and stressing valves and pistons. for the rest, good and sweet deal [thumb]

no i didn't... from what i understand of chips, the chip is supposed to mess with the timing so it can take the high revs with the 91 octane gas and give more torque and hp throughout the curve. I think the new rev is 6900 which i agree is high. I'm not in the red all that long.... just enough to hit off the new limit.

I heard from another forum that the chip is a knockoff of a another chip brand. they said d inan. (clone or whatever they called it) Hearing this makes me feel shady, but how was i supposed to know he sent me a clone. But it also gives me some security at the same time. hmmm.

hope the engine doesn't blow, but if it does i'll have my rebuild on my hands, just a little sooner, haha.

the higher octane is a must for higher revs to prevent knocking. you can get the same revs with 89, but than it could start knocking. the higher octane is just a precaution, not a cause for higher revs. you are right, the chip messes up the timing, or better said it readjusts it.

higher revs put higher velocity on all moved pats in the engine. pistons, valves, valve springs, camshafts, basically everything. the biggest problem with higher revs are valve springs. for example, when you buy performance cams from hamann or schnitzer that take the rev that much higher, u usually get new valve springs that can take the work. that is what i meant.
