Alright. My 318is has 225k on it but it runs like a charm still. Until I got an inspection done and my local mechanic found a fuel hose in real bad shape so he put a new one in. 2 days after, my car was acting strange. I work in a parts shop, they can't even figure it out.
It's not just when it idles, but more specifically, when I go to drive away in first after a startup. Or even through second. It starts sputtering and running reallly crappy like it's not gettting enough air/fuel/spark. RPM's drop down pretty low and it goes up and down between 400 and 700. really crappy. If i let it idle at that point it sometimes stalls out. The problem was realllly bad for about 4 days, and since then it's been happening less but it's been a few weeks, and just happened again today. Usually when I first start it up, clears up if i drive it away, gains power off and on through 2nd and its cleared up by 3rd gear.
Sprayed some cleaner up in intake. Wasn't it. Dumped some injector cleaner in tank, probably not the best but Techron usually does the trick. Nope. Changed the plugs and wires. Air filter changed, oil changed, fuel filter changed.
Hellllp please. Mechanic went to check the codes but there are none? he said it's because i disconnected the battery recently. How many miles does it take for these to reset? I know the motronic fuel injection system requires a special tool to check those codes, and i know he doesnt have that one. are those the codes i should be checking?
Thanks, sorry for the long post.
