Idle speed

Does anyone know what the idle speed should be for a 2000 528i?

I'm not exactly sure what the idle speed should be but if I had to guess I would say between 550-700 RPM. If you're not too sure, it most definitely will be listed in your owners manual. Check that out and it will tell you.

The normal idle speed setting is 500 rpm

Does the idle speed auto adjust under certain conditions? It seems that mine at best is 750.

it'll sit higher to warm the engine up a bit
once fully warmed as long as it is steady, that's what counts

Your engine running with the AC on or off will affect the idling a little as well.

My idle starts at about 1000 and than once warmed up and AC off it sits at 750.
