Indicator Light

I have a 1997 528I that I got used. My question is, on the dash, the lighted car, the one that shows if the doors are open, I have a light icon that is red on the right rear of the car. Can somebody please tell me what this means? I didn't get the owners manual when I purchased the car. Thanks

Gee, I don't even have that car icon on my dash!!!
And I was wondering why BMW left that out, I only have the text warning message:
"Door Open" (or something like that)...Which FReaking Door!!!???

maybe it thinks the trunk is open???
