installing release cable in hood latch

how do i set the release cable into the hood latch correctly? took off the back black plastic cover off of the hood latch to reveal the insides, i know where i set the release cable.. but for my new release cable it came with a black piece and a white plastic piece on the end of my release cable..? what do i do?

found a picture of a release cable off the internet kind of like mine..

like that.. (look at the end of the cable to the left)

**EDIT: if i set the white plastic piece over one side of the hood latch and the black piece over the other side, then the white plastic piece looks like its about to break off and hangs way over the tip of the release cable.. is that normal?

it never came with a old one.. car came missing a release cable and latch

it looks like the one frmo realoem.com i guess.. that diagram doesn't help though..

in that diagram the release cable is next to the hood latch unattached im trying to find out how to properly install the release cable into the latch

...where are you getting that from?

its the right part, i just dont see how to install the release cable into the hood latch, my car didnt come with a hood latch/release cable assembly when i bought it, so i cant compare & copy
