Interior question

I recently got back into the bmw world wiht the purchase of my 90 325is. I've owned 2 Bimmer's in the past, an 87 325 and a 94 318is, but have been driving an old 88 Bonneville for the past several years (which has ended up being a great car)

What I want to know is, basically, where should I start off?

The seats are in okay condition except for the driver's seat. it's terrible, and very badly ripped. Idealy, I would like to have the upholstery replaced, but I know that is expensive. Also, the main carpet is stained in alot of places, and I'd kinda like to replace that as well. I've priced that out though and that's not too bad.

On another note, the CD player (aftermarket Alpine unit) is stuck in the dash. Anyone know of an easy way to pull one of those out.

I know I just asked alot, but I'm basically just starting out, so there's alot that needs work. Will post pics tomorrow.

Well, I don't know about Sth Carolina, but over her ein little old nz there is a roaring trade of secondhand parts - I can pick up an entire secondhand interior with carpets for only a few hundred NZ$ and a full leather interior for around NZ$1000.

The alpine CD layer uses a special tool to unhook it, although you never know exactly how it was installed. Open the glovebox and undo the two black head screws (one near the latch the other near the centre console) then udo the twist'lock clips on the two plastic panels (one is on the far right where the strap holding the glovebox lid attaches and then there is one on the other side of this plastic panel and one more at the bottom of the plastic side panel.

Undo the glovebox lid strpas and pull the plastic panels out and you can see right in behind the heater controls to where the headunit is mounted.

yeah well i havne't been able to find anything real cheap.

And I was afraid that the CD player would be difficult to get out.

I had an aftermarket AIWA in my 87 and i didn't remember it being hard to get out, but then again, i put that one in myself, so I knew how it was installed.

If you have the tool, then you needn't go to those lengths, but in my car for instance, my headunit is bolted in from the back to thwart theives (it's a late-model, high-end Alpine) and so you can't get it out for all the special tools in the world save a BFH or crowbar.
