I'm selling a 72 vw beetle for $4500. and a guy just sent me a message wanting to trade a 1987 bmw 325is turbo. This is the email he just sent me about it.

(1987 325is, delphin metallic with 202,xxx miles. The head was rebuilt last year, every seal, gasket, etc was replaced. The clutch and drive bearing were just replaced less than 1,000 miles ago. The belts and water pump were done at 180,xxx. The car is running a smaller turbo(t3/t4 .63/.50 a/r 57 trim wheel). It has a 2.5x6x18 intercooler placed right infront of the radiator. This setup is good because it is practically invisible from the outside and the high beams didn't have to be removed. Right now the car is running 7psi with 19# injectors. The turbo setup was installed/built by my friend josh in cincinnati. I was going to put on a m30 afm and 24# injectors to gain more power because i wanted to keep the psi low so there is not too much strain on the engine. The car has 17" ATS black wheels with falken tires. The wheels are VERY lightweight. Is has eibach springs and bilstein shocks. The paint on the top of the car(sunroof area) needs a respray because it is faded. There is some very minor surface rust areas but they are all not very visible. The car ran a 14.1 sec. 1/4 mile at just 7 psi. It pulls great and sounds awesome. Right now the car only has a downpipe...it sounds mean as hell but definately not legal.)

The book value said $2000. Any advice would be great. Thanks

well i very clean late 325iS will go for about 3-4k but sence there is so many miles i would say its work about 2k - 2.5k but the 325iS also has a turbo :D so maybe you could get a little more cash plus the car but stright up, i dont know its really hard to say with out seeing both in person

[eek] Definatly don't do it!...Volkswagen bugs like yours, sell for about $9,000-$13,000 where I live.

But I agree to the idea of selling your Volks and buying a BMW instead, lol[:D]

If you want a e30 project car then I'd do it as long as you get the price ironed out. Someone else has done the hard part of getting everything to fit and work togetrher. You could spend your money on improving reliability and ironing out design issues.

If you want a reliable daily driver stay away - this will be an expensive project car at least until you get it alot more sorted than it appears to be.

I understand what it's worth and the only reason I even would consider it is that I like bmw. I really need to sell the car because of driveway space and my jetski having issues. I don't even drive it, it just sits on the driveway. I finished college and got a good job so it was kindof and impulse buy. I pretty much ripped off the guy I bought it off of because he had no Idea what they are worth. At this point I'm ready to sell it for what I have in it and be done with the whole thing. If I don't it will just sit and rust here in ohio.

i dunno... usually the saying is if it looks too good to be true it probably is.

didn't he say that it ISN'T street legal right now... Quote: "Right now the car only has a downpipe...it sounds mean as hell but definately not legal.)"

i forsee this car being a money pit and endless problems because it's been rebuilt and modified up the hoo ha... if u really want a beamer, i suggest that u get one the proper way- ie sell your bug for the most $ u can get for it. and, then save up to buy either a certified pre-owned or a car from a reliable private owner.

this trading business sounds like a scam. my .02 anyways...

yeah, I told him if he sells his car I'll sell him mine. I don't want a junk bmw. I'd like to get a 2000 or newer unless I could find a very low mileage mid-nintys. I'm kinda looking right nown and found a 2000 528I with 65000 for 14,999. I'd rather do something like that. It would be a little higher payment than my focus but I'd rather drive a bmw.
