Is this a 530i Sport on not a Sport?

I'm a new BMW owner (of a used 530i) and have a question about the sport package. My friend says mine has the sport premium package. I'm didn't think it did when I purchased it. I thougth all sport packages had the sport seats - with the thigh extender. This has a 3 spoke M steering wheel (not the 3 spoke sport wheel I'm used to seeing) and what looks like sport wheels but how can I tell if it has the sport suspension? Here's a couple of pics that may help. Thanks.

It has the shadow trim, body color moldings, sport steering wheel, steptronic.
All those are in the sport package.
But the seats are not sport seats...could be the original buyer opted not to have them?
But that's strange for anyone not to want the sport seats with a sport package.

The wheels could easily have been changed though.

Judging by the //M logo on the steering wheel and the ride height in addition to the moonroof, it looks like you do have the Sport Premium Package.

I can't remember for sure, but I believe the Sport Seats was an option. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for input. Another friend who is an enthusist says that it is indeed a sport. Said the seats were an option in 2001 but questions why anyone would leave this off given the vehicle is otherwise loaded. But as my grandfather used to say, "that's why they make chocolate and vanilla."

I absolutely love it. It's in great shape and runs like a champ. There's only one thing that I need to fixed. Maybe someone can tell me how/if it can be done. On the arm rest between the front seats there's a "handle" towards the front that allows you to pull the arm rest forward. It kind of ruberized and is scratched up. I'd like to fix that. Can it be repaired? If it needs to be replaced, what's the part called and is it something that's easy to do? Thanks again for helping a "newbie".

bookmark this site. www.realoem.com. Get the last 7 digits of your VIN and plug them in, then you can get the name of the part and BMW part number. You can buy directly from them or, armed with a part number, call bavauto or someone and compare prices. It's also a great site for helping to locate where a particular part is on your car.

I think that is one of the common faults with the E39.
That is a rubber coating for grip, I had the same problem.
What I did was scrape off the coating with a credit card (gently so you don't scratch the underneath surface) then clean it up with "goo gone". Apply some vinyl protectant (like armorall etc) and it looks nice and glossy new!

Thanks Cosmos... one more question. I bought a replacement handle for $6 at the bmw dealer. But when I got home I couldn't figure out how to get the old one off. I saw the post on the center console that describes how to remove the whole armrest. Do I have to do that to take off the old one or is there another way? Thanks.

6strummer, I'm sorry I can't help you there, never done that.
I never knew there was a replacement handle, always assumed it comes with the armrest.

I guess you would need to remove the armrest to get a better view underneath?
Looks like it's kinda tight to work under the handle as it is.

that car is definitely a Sport Package Vehicle. The wheels, ride height, and steering wheel confirm that, among the other details that other members mentioned.

The seats look like the optional Comfort Seats that you can opt for on select BMW's, even if you get the Sport Package. Not everybody wants seats that make getting in and out of the vehicle more difficult, as well as the Comfort Seats' benefit of being really comfortable for longer drives.
