8.8 isn't bad but you still need to revise your fueling. There are a lot of differences in engines designed to be turbo versus low compression normally-aspirated ones. Some designs most found on turbo engines:

Closed-deck blocks
Oil squirters on pistons
Forged pistons
reinforced blocks (in the casting)
Intake tracks designed to be pressurized above atmospheric pressure.
