Hi,
I was wondering about this "JC Chip". I hear all of you E30 guys talking about them and I was wondering about them. Like: Where do you get them for the best price? Can you get them for a 1988 325...not the 325e or 325i...just the 325. How much should it cost and what kinda gains would I be looking at? Thanks !

That's pretty much standard. I haven't seen the chip discounted anywhere other than possibley on ebay. And I don't think they can advertise it as a JC chip there so who knows what you're really getting. But $250 for a bolt-on 15 horsepower is pretty darn cheap if you ask me.

JC Chip and smog tests

I have a chip in my car (don't knowwhat) but Ive heard that you should replace the original chip in the car before having it smogged. And being in CA where the tests are very strict, I was wondering if you living in (Ventura CA) have had any problems passing smog with the JC chip?

I have not heard of anyone having problems getting smogged with a chip on these cars. My 86 325es has a chip (don't know what kind) and has never had a problem getting smogged. The convertible has not needed a smog since I put the JC chip in but will be getting smogged later this month. I'll keep you posted.

I just put a JC chip in my 325e and I have to tell you that "pluging in" 24 hp and 28 ftlb for $200 is a great deal. I bought mine from Turner Motor Sports. (www.tmsracing.com) I got free second day shipping. I would tell every one to do it. The results are unbelivible!

You oen a 1986 325e.
I own the same car, and I have been looking to upgrade the suspension, however when I checked for bilsteins they seem to make suspension kits for post 87 325's and I noticed you have upgraded your suspension. Any advice for suspension? something around a grand

Montokboy:

Depending on what you want I would get an H/R Cup kit for performance oriented driving and maby just some lowering springs and some bilstein sport shocks for everyday driving. My car rides really stiff using 50 series tires, H/R springs and Koni single adjustable shocks. "one hell of a set up for the track and around a grand. -Post a thead asing the same ? some people have great setups that they think are great!

The chip has realy put a huge punch in my motor above 3 grand all the way to redline, before my eta was difficult to rev high. You definetly notice the increase. However the "i" motor dosent benifit as much as the eta for $200 I gained 24hp and 28ftlb. good times would recomend a JC chip to everyone. And I dont get paid to say that!!
