Has anyone here had any experience with this header system, or have any feed back? I'm thinking of getting a set for my E36 M3.
They sell for 599.99. I alreay have a cat-back system with a track pipe. Any feed back would be much appreciated. [bmwdance] [drinking] [read]

Purchased their coated headers for my old Ford Probe and they were great. If you already have a cat-back system, adding aftermarket headers will really maximize this investment.

I have had two sets of Jet-Hot ceramic coated headers on my Camaro. I do NOT recommend Jet-Hot. The coating flaked off of parts of the first set I had, and I got them replaced under warranty. The set I have on my car now have formed rust over their entire surface.

My headers (made by Dynomax) are very good quality and fit perfectly, but the Jet-Hot coating on them is pure crap.

I'm surprise that we both have two different experience with their coating. How long did you have the headers for? I had mine for two years and when I sold the car, they looked brand new.

Tom, I too am surprised at my poor experience with Jet-Hot coatings. I've always heard good things from other people, but the fact that I have had TWO sets of Jet-Hot coated headers that have had their coatings completely deteriorate leaves a bad taste in my mouth for Jet-Hot and makes me question the quality of their work. I had the first set of headers for about 2 years - they progressively deteriorated over that time period. The second set has been on the car for about 3-4 years, but the headers now look like they were put on the car back in the 60s and haven't been touched since - they are that bad looking.

It definitely is rust - the coating is beginning to flake off again. Jet-Hot's coating won't tarnish, but if the coating doesn't remain adhered to the metal, it'll crack, begin flaking and rust.

For my understaning is that Jet-Hot has changed the way they coat the metal. They have fixed and improved the process in coating the headers. How long ago was it that you purchased your set? I think the new process of coating the headers was just changed. I ordered them from BAVAUTO.com. I payed 620.00 including shipping. I am going to try and install them this Saturday. I will upate you guys on the resuilts. The mods so far to the car include: UUC Evo short shifter, ITG CAI intake, M50 manifold conversion, AA Tuning software, AA Tuning Track Pipe, B&B Tri-flow exhaust, Light weight flywheel, and Sachs Power clutch. I'm also looking to install a Euro Mass Air Sensor (Euro E36 part) and get my throttle body bored out. Happy Thanksgiving to all and have a safe Holiday. [clap] [bmwdance]

Hey JGME3632, How does that B&B Tri-flow exhaust sound? That's one of the things on my wish-list for 2005. [slap]

I installed the Headers yesterday. Installation was a bitch! I had a BMW tech helping me. It still took us about 5 hours when everything was said and done. But the car's powerbang is smoother, it runs smoother, and has better torque midrange. Horsepower increase is modest I was say 15 hp above 5000 rpm. These mod gets a 10 out of 10 for performance and sound. But installation was such a pain the butt. I recommed having at least two people with good mechanical skills.

I heard if you add headers to a car, they can warp and cause an exhasut leak. I was told it never fails that this will eventually happen because the exhaust manifold uses the block to transmit heat. And since with a header you use a gasket, the header cannot dissipate heat. Is this true of Bimmers?

what the hell are you talking about?
I R TEH STUP1DXXORS.

Tought time sorting through my english? I don't blame ya.

I was told by a Ferrari (Ferrari of West Newton) technician that an exhaust manifold uses the engine block to dissipate heat. Go cut one in half and look. There is a water jacket around the exhaust manifold design to absorb heat from it. This would cause the manifold not to distort. I was told you need a gasket with aftermarket headers. Since you have a gasket, heat would no longer be transmitted into the block and dissipated via antifreeze. In turn this would cause the header to warp due to the constant change in temperatures. As a result, the gasket gets a weak spot and exhaust leaks.

Understand what I am stepping in yet? This doesnt sound true though because everyone gets headers eventually and no one has ever posted this problem.

any metal to metal peice requires a gasket.. still not sure what you are talking about with manifolds, they are heavy and made of steel. Never heard of one conducting heat through the block. FI cars produce more heat than NA cars anyways, so why would a Ferrari need some special water cooled manifold thing that doesn't require a gasket?

Also from what you said earlier, if a metal is heat treated properly, it will not distort or mis-shape, and would not need this water cooling thing? You have any pics to show us, cause I've never heard of what you are stepping into.
