Just Ordered a 2004 530!

Took me a while, but I finally got used to the new look of the 5 series and my fear of the i-drive...

Now the long, agonizing wait is ahead of me...my salesman says that it is a 6-8 week leadtime. Anybody know what the REAL wait is liable to be? I have a production number but after 1 week the bmwusa site still shows my car's status as "on-order".

At one time I thought somebody hear was saying that I could call an 800 number to get a more up to date status...anybody know what the phone number is?

Service was good, although they tried to drop a $400 "advertising" fee on me at the eleventh hour...

Anybody know how long the lead time is running for new orders of 530's nowadays?

What kind of interior trim did you pick? That saphire black is SOOOOOOOOOOOOhot. Steptronic or manual? I LOVE my 530i (except when idiots rearend me)

Interior is black leather with the dark brown wood...maple, poplar? I like the look of the black leather with the dark brown wood...

Went with the steptronic. Frees up one hand for coffee, you know. ;)

My 530i took 4 1/2 weeks. The OC site was just about perfect for mine regarding time, even though each day was grueling. The 800 number is 1-800-831-1117. Wait for the prompt for "Vehicle Production Status". Calling every day doesn't help your mind (I called just about every day). It's more of a fun thing. Then once it hits the ship track it on http://www.2wglobal.com.

I'm not proud of it, but I got mine 2 weeks early and still complained. :)

I'd be ecstatic if it only takes 4.5 weeks...somehow I am thinking it is going to be much longer, since it's been a week now and the OC site still says the status is, "on-order".

Arrrghhh.

No luck yet. I have been so busy I haven't had time to think about it, but I have a couple days off and plan on going into the dealership today or tomorrow. I intend on calling them every day, but something always seems to get in the way. So no, it hasn't been fixed, nor has anyone even tried to call. I did report it to BMWUSA on their last call to me to see how things were going though. This was about 2 weeks ago, but haven't heard anything else.
