I am thinking of purchasing a 2006 or 2007 525i, and I would like to know what other people think: should I get leather or leatherette? I am leaning towards the leatherette because price does matter, and it saves you about 3,000K. I would get the black exterior and the black interior. What do you think?

wow thats a lot for leather but i really think that it does bring a bad name to the BMW brand. also some physical disadvantages are:
1) If you leave the car in the sun, the seats will get very hot and will most likely burn your rear cheecks (lol)
2) when u move around, when the leatherette stretches it makes this really annoying noise
3) It looks cheap.

This is just my opinion but....its still your choice. cheers.

My 91 318is had leatherette and it was nice. It wore really well, does not get as hot in the sun as leather does and I never had any stretching problems with it. Leatherette is fine if that is what you prefer.

Leatherette drivers seat unusually warm in summer

I have leatherette seats in my 325i and loved them until summer. For some odd reason the driver’s seat (sport bucket) is noticeably warmer than the passenger. I do live where it’s hot (80-90); however it’s so uncomfortable that I drive my other car during the summer months. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what did you do? I’d rather not get seat covers but I think that may be my only option. Even then I’m not sure what kind of material I should get and the BMW service center I called wasn’t much help.
