On a recent trip to London, I was driving by (in a taxi) a BMW dealership in the Westminster district when I noticed an E60 5er parked outside the dealership. The thing that caught my eye was that it looked like a 2005 M5. But it turns out that it didn't have the grille slits on the side front panels and it didn't have the M5 mirrors. But it did have the front spoiler, sideskirts, and M5 wheels. I thought it must have been an add-on that some guy put on his car. But when I brought this up to a British colleague, he informed me that the M5 look-alike sport kit is the latest, and only? sport kit available in the UK. What gives? Europe gets an M Sport kit and all we (Americans) get are blacked out window trim and bigger wheels/tires. I didn't get a chance to see the inside, but according to my friend, the UK E60 Sports also come with M seats and steering wheel.
Can any UK members confirm this? Does anyone know of any plans to introduce the M kit in the U.S.? I couldn't find a pic, but just go to any BMW UK website and build your own with the sport package and it's clear to see. I'm not a big fan of the E60, but I must admit that M5 look did look quite striking...
