Hey ya'll,

I had a question,,,,and please don't shoot me for sounding so stupid.

In about 2 weeks my baby is going to be due for her mandatory 1,200 mile service. I want to make sure that my oil filter is changed. Can anyone tell me where my filter is when I am looking at the engine? Can I somehow mark the old one, and then verify that a new one was installed?

I used to do this to my SAAB. I would put the date with a sharpie every time I had an oil service. One time, I got home and saw the old date on the filter. The dealer was embarassed, and SAAB was furious (lots of free coupons came my way).

Also, has anyone heard a clicking, or light clunking noise coming from behind the rear seats, or possibly HK speakers? On rough roads, I can hear this intermitent rattle/clicking/clunk noise. On the freeway, or really smooth streets the car is dead silent, put when I hit a rough patch..this click happens. Any ideas???

Thanks!!!

Thanks Tom...we thought that was it (honestly :) , but wanted to be sure. Very surprised that BMW put it in such an easy place. I'm sure the E90 is so hid away, that no one would be able to do any maintenance themselves.

Our Board rocks. Not only did you answer my question....but you even sent an awesome idiot proof picture with a very fancy [:)] label. Vielen, vielen Dank!!!!

Assuming there's nothing in your trunk rollin' around [;)] ...

Does it happen when changing gears? Or when you depress the clutch? If so, it may be the "normal" drive train slop associated with most M3's. If it's just a rattle though, you may want to throw a kid in your trunk to see if he/she can isolate the noise. [joke] .

Also, make sure your rear seats are fully locked. I know I don't close mine all the way sometimes and I get the noise you are describing. Good luck!
