Well first of all the M3 has 333Hp while the M3 CSL 360HP. The CSL weighs 3050 lbs while the normal M3 weighs 3415 lbs. This is because BMW has made many carbon fiber parts for its car, The roof, the baggage, is all carbon fiber. The floor of the baggage is some sort of paper. There is no radio. No airconditioning. They basically stripped her out. The car is really quick. Its a supercar contender. The CSL is more of a racer/ enthusiast car, while the m3 is ur ultimate road car =)

the noise difference is mainly due to the carbon intake on the CSL (kind of like the one you can get from MK or Hammann.
There are other engine mods that would affect the sound slightly, but the main one is the intake.

As a recent CSL purchaser, the main differences are, the carbon fibre induction kit, carbon roof, door panels, centre console, diffusers front and rear, composite boot, lightweight bucket seats front and rear, thinner glass, reworked chassis, wider track and the exhaust has thinner walls which makes it sound much nicer when the loud pedal is depressed.

Overall a much more focused point to point vehicle than the standard M3, maybe a little too extreme if you are using it as a day to day vehicle but lots of fun !!!

The CSL is a great track car....but not everyday car. It doesn't have a stereo OR air conditioning...for 80k I'd take a 911 Carrera S in a minute.

Climate control and CD were no cost factory fit options on the car when new and the vast majority of the CSLs' in the UK have them. Mine is completely standard apart from the BMW Business RDS CD player and Climate Control system.

Yeah, the CSL isn't easy to live with, but because I'm just so amazed by it, I would deal with the lack of stereo and A/C....I don't really use A/C anyways.

CSL maybe the ultimate M, but i'm too into the luxury part of the equation. mos def, nice ride, but 997 S does sound pretty sweet.

bar man, welcome aboard, and congrats on your CSL. not my cup o tea, but it sure is a nice ride.

ConSiderably Less Weight = ConSiderabLy more FUN !!!!

I find the CSL such an amazingly involving experience to drive you forget about the missing luxuries. I deliberately turn off the stereo to listen to the induction roar and the amazing exhaust note on downchanges.

It all depends on whether you want a sports car or a race car experience when you drive ! [headbang] [headbang] [headbang] [headbang] [headbang]

My dad just picked up a Black on Black 05 997 Carrera S with ceramic breaks a few months ago and its definately one of the sexiest cars i've ever seen. Just thought I'd put my two sense in....

I agree, I sometimes (a lot) turn off my radio and all just to here the sweet engine and exhaust note on my "regular" M3. It is a sound to behold....

Happy motoring BAR MAN! Maybe someday you will let me drive it... hehe
