M3CSL Video Around Nurburgring

See how people there know how to drive and how they reacting when the CSL is coming. Everybody moves to the right. Exactly like on the autobahn. Imagine american drivers there?
I was thinking the exact same thing as I was watching it. Everyone is concious of other drivers and moves to the right without the CSL having to slow down or ride up on their ass. If only it were like that here in America.

Correct me if I'm wrong...but isn't the video made on a track?

Yes, http://www.nuerburgring.de/ in Germany. If you ever see any of the 'spy shots' of the M5, thats the track it was probably taken at. BMW has a development center in the city of Nuerburgring and it is the ONLY company to have a center there - they were the only ones smart enough to realize the importance of being that close to the track.

Awesome video... one thing I'm wondering about is his gearshift timings. I try to imagine I'm driving the car, but it's hard to determine the right shift points, especially the downshift points. Is the car blipping the gas at all with downshifting? I know it's SMGII, but I should still hear the blipping sound before corners, right?

Not exactly the same as on the highway. I have driven performance schools at Portland International, Spokane Raceway Park, Thunderhill and Pacific Raceways and the novice drivers and/or slower cars yield to the faster cars here in the same way. I agree that most US drivers, a lot of them here in Western Washington fail to yield the left lane to anyone regardless of speed, conditions, cars etc. I call them "left lane hogs".

Of course not everybody is the same. There are good drivers here also.

I must agree. I have been to a lot of different cities in the U.S. Western Washington is by far the worst. LLB (left-lane blocking) occurs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A drop of rain slows down the traffic to a near halt. A bit of snow sends the entire city into panic mode.

This is proof indeed that you have been to Western Washington! When I moved here I could not believe these idiots. They need giant traffic signs, "Keep Right Except to Pass....Moron". Then they need some agressive police patrols to enforce it.[thumb]

Well, I live in Emerald City... [;)]

Whenever I travel to another city and observe the traffic there, I wish I could bring back some of their couteous driving etiquette back home. [:(]

I am assuming its similar gear ratios to a standard M3? I must've hit 150-160mph (at least) a few times by the gear he was in (count them) and the noise of the revs. That thing got up there damn quick. Awesome racing engine noise too. Sounds real good

The gear ratios are identical between the standard M3 and the CSL, including the final ratio. Only SMGII is available, though, and it's re-programmed for the CSL.
