I'm considering purchasing a 540 or M5. I've heard that the manual tranny is a bit busy (shifting). I've tested both and like both. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Manual or Auto

M5's are manual only. And, I love it. There's so much power in each gear that you don't have to shift as often as you might think. But then again, if you're caught on a freeway at rush hour....

if your caught on the freeway then you leave it in 2nd or 3rd or 4th and you can still pull away so that counters that one[:D]

it'd say 6 speed all the way. wish they were short shifters, or shorter shifters, but why get a sports sedan if yer biggest worry is being stuck in traffic?

yes being stuck in traffic sucks, but do i even have to mention the rewards of that special bond between you and your baby as she does exactly as you ask?
