Recently purchased a 2000 540i w/33,600 miles
Great vehicle, drives like a dream.
After 4 days of driving (highway).
The service engine light came on.
Is this a sign of something major?
The vehicle had the 30,000 mile service at 31,000 miles
The dealer(Infiniti) inspected the vehicle and changed the oil as well.
I negotiated a service agreement into the price of the car.
Should I stay with the vehicle, or is this signs of more things to come?
I ran the vehicle through car fax, it came up clean with no discrepancies.
I have the maintanance records from the past owner, He followed all the requiremed maintanance schedules.
I love the car, but I'm scared it's a potential clunker.

[welcome] I certainly hope you have better luck with yours than I did with mine....that was the first sign of iDrive issues with me....not to worrry. You don't have iDrive. Congrats on your purchase and upon becoming a member of the board.

O2 sensor was the culprit.
The car runs great.
Took a trip last weekend from Boston, MA - Warren, VT WOW!!!!!!
Really got a chance to see how the car performs.
Rolling hills through the mountains with very light traffic and No Staties.
I love the car.

Question: Anyone here of BMW not honoring thier warranty if you install Bluetooth
Hands free cell phone technology to your vehicle?
This certain dealership told me my only option was to install the standard phone.
I have a 2000 540i.
