Recently purchased a 2000 540i w/33,600 miles
Great vehicle, drives like a dream.
After 4 days of driving (highway).
The service engine light came on.
Is this a sign of something major?
The vehicle had the 30,000 mile service at 31,000 miles
The dealer(Infiniti) inspected the vehicle and changed the oil as well.
I negotiated a service agreement into the price of the car.
Should I stay with the vehicle, or is this signs of more things to come?
I ran the vehicle through car fax, it came up clean with no discrepancies.
I have the maintanance records from the past owner, He followed all the requiremed maintanance schedules.
I love the car, but I'm scared it's a potential clunker.

I certainly hope you have better luck with yours than I did with mine....that was the first sign of iDrive issues with me....not to worrry. You don't have iDrive. Congrats on your purchase and upon becoming a member of the board.
