I have a 2002 525i, I used a OBDII code reader and obtained the code P1620. I looked up on the internet and it said I am having a problem with my MAP Climate control Circuit Electrical. What is this and where is it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh, I don't have a display screen for a map.

Thank you,

Loo

Actually, P1620 means "MAP Cooling Control Circuit Signal High" not Climate, as your post mentions.

The MAP sensor ( "Manifold Absolute Pressure" ), is used to calculate the engine load and control the fuel injection rate (nothing to do with Navigation street maps!).

To do it's job, it uses two temperature sensors - an air intake sensor mounted in the air intake, and a coolant temperature sensor mounted in the engine block. Sounds to me like the Coolant sensor failed.

Thank you

To answer the first posting, I don't really have any other description. I don't have any problem but the "Service engine" is on. Thank you for your inputs, I will try to replace the coolant sensor and see how if that solves the problem. Oh, thanks for correcting me. Next, question is, do you know of any inexpensive part store or do I have to go to the dealer for this? Once again, thank you.
