well, i sure am glad that MB's are significantly more expensive than BMW's! I drove an E500 w/AMG package today and have to admit it was pretty darn slick. however, not slick enough for a $68k price tag! i don't know what the new M5's are going to pull down, but the MB 302hp engine had a good feel and the suspension modes were nice to experiment with.
i'm looking to get into a new 530 SP/PP wanted to go and compare some more German engineering. perhaps the 545 is a better comparison model to this car?

both are top of the midrange group
to this u can add audi's a6 v8

If you wanna have some real fun, drive an E55.
Expensive though. But the power is amazing.

The E55 AMG is pimp as shit I love that car so much.

But yeah, compare the 545i to the E500. The 545i probably has a better drive and better handling anyways...although German, Mercedes does try to isolate the driver from the road quite a bit.

I can only speak for my comparisons of my 530 and an E55. My car handles better than the E55. Corners better. Feels the road better. The other lesser E class cars I have driven feel soft and squishy on the road.

I prefer the BMW in most ways (except the looks of the current 5's) but the raw power of the E55 is primal. You feel it in your loins. I can't wait to try the new M5 since it is supposed to have even more power than the E55.
