I need everyones suggestions on whether or not its a good idea to try and tackle the job of replacing my motor mounts on my 1989 m20. If not, whats an estimate i can expect to pay for someone else to do it?

do it yourself, all you need it a jack and a block of wood to raise the engine at specific places. Just be dang careful not to let the jack slip while you are replacing the mount.

Its really a pretty easy thing to do. If you are worried though let someone else do it. It'd probably be cheap since its not a very tough job.

It's mad easy man, it's like changing a windshield wiper only under an engine. I guess that's not a good analogy but whatever you get the point [hihi]

lol yea man thanks a bunch, i read in my manuel that im suppost to jack it from the oil pan, with a jack and a block of wood. After that, its basically just replacing the mounts right? It sounds pretty stright forward.

Am I wrong, or does an engine only have a left and a right mount? The guy at goodyear, when i took it to get an estimate, said he would charge 60 for left, 70 for right, and 50 for REAR? Im not exactly sure what he means by rear, so if their is a rear one please let me know.

By the rear he might mean the 2 transmission mounts. Other than those theres just a left and right. The tranny mounts are beyond easy to replace.

the passenger side mount is a bit tougher to get to without lots of bendy joints. (or was that the driver.....)

Cool stuff. Let me know how big a difference it is... mine are the original and are grease filled! Yuck!
