I've got a 1999 528i with about 80,000 miles on it. It's been serviced at the dealership 6 times in the last 2 years, for what appears to be the same symptoms, although I've been told about multiple problems. The "Check Engine" light comes on, the car lags, has no acceleration, won't go beyond about 2000 rpm's and then stalls a few minutes later. After about an hour the car will restart, and barely drive, at least letting me get home. It feels like the car is chugging on 2 cylinders, and seems to happen on the freeway, but this may be a coincidence. The servicing has been: 1) Inlet Camshaft Sensor. 2) Fuel Pump. 3) Fuel Pump. 4) Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter, Pressure Valve. 5) Cyclone Separator. 6) clean the Throttle Body. This last time the "EML" and "DSC" lights came on, but the car drove the same. I don't really believe the root cause of the problem has been found. Any suggestions? Thanks.
