Just had a quick question for you experts. Whats the best way to get the musty smell out of the inside of my car. I'm having my floor mats taken out of my car and replaced with new ones. I don't think this will solve the total problem. I've had the carpet cleaned several times, but it's only temporary. Anything I could try. It's not coming from the vent system. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Im not sure. I think you need the carpets removed and check for mold. [bmwkick]

if its coming from the vents then that means you need to replace the filter thingy thats right behind the grille of your car...it belongs to the A/C.

After some time, they start to grow mildew/bacteria/etc and get moist and bad and must be replaced otherwise they blow foul smell into your car...

My opinion... :)

oops didn't read the part about the "not from vents" hehe...still have it checked.

Other than that, if it's not the new mats thats solving the problem...perhaps it is the carpet-flooring that has gone bad which comes when you purchase a car...you know the carpet you cover with your floormats.

Do you have pets that you place in your car?
