That was awesome. I knew there was some reason that I live in Oklahoma! Now to get me an automatic weapon.

I do think the girl was a little young to firing a gun, let alone a fully automatic weapon

That's the stupidest thing I've ever seen. It's no wonder that there is such a serious problem with guns in the US. And now even Dick Cheney will have to admit that they're an unnecessary danger to others.

I don't think a bow/arrow would work on quail or dove......

Sorry Big Daddy, nobody took the bait!!!
Haha..thanks Lisha! All in all guns make up a very small percentage of accidents and/or deaths in the US. I own several guns (more than 10), and have two state and a federal concealed weapons permit. I have never had an accident with any of them, nor have any of my guns been used by others in an accident..or an on purpose for that matter!

(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
(C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.

(Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept. of Health Human Services)

Guns
(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000.
Yes, that is 80 million.

(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.000188.

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do."

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!

Out of concern for the public at large, I have withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention.

I dropped a light fixture on my Mother's head.......electrocuted (mildly) my future x-husband....hit him again in the face with the windshield wipor (head in the way)......got knocked out with a ceiling fan blade while cleaning cabinets.......my x-boss wife's shot a bird dog while hunting, wrote a check for $5000.00 on the spot too........shit happens........

Do you really think the Cheney story is this much news worthy?? Good grief, live in Texas, all my customers are hunters, its a religion of sorts for them, accidents happen in a lot of things with friends or family.......you don't think he feels bad.....do I care that they broke the story immediately or a few days after.......hell I don't care if I ever knew that information........no use to me, no use to my life, no use to my family's life........what was the point.......OMG.......beware VP might shoot again, and the ending of the story is still.........VP shot friend.......ok I got it, I got it........do you need to show me again on the news........ You askin me if I think its news worthy? If so, I think its newsworthy but not for more than 1 day and I think people are talkin way too much about it. My post was kind of sarcastic or whatever.

Gotta feel bad for ole dick, in 3 years when he has tons of time on his hands, nobody will want to go hunting with him!

More people are killed each year in auto accidents, let's outlaw cars!
No offense but that's the worst analogy I've ever seen in my life.

Cars, you could argue, are a necessary element of Western civilisation. Guns, quite simply, are not. I do appreciate that you guys have the right to bear arms written into your constitution, but it's an archaic right in a world where weaponry has the potential to inflict 1000 times the damage.

I truly cannot understand how guns can be sanctioned when little kids (some as young as 6) are taking their dad's handguns to school and playing Russian Roulette with their mates. It's complete bullshit that the NRA has the potential to prevent the ratification of a treaty which bans assault weapons in your great country (I truly do admire the USA btw). Assualt weapons! Let's go and buy ourselves an AK-47 or Colt! What on earth is that kind of allowance necessary for?

I'm not trying to start a flame war here, I'm just trying to come to grips with the logic of the right to buy guns in a society that has clearly moved beyond the barbarity of resorting to their use.

So are guns if we are to remain a free society. Our constution guarantees it, and I for one believe it is one of the greatest documents ever written. With freedom comes risk, and remember "freedom is not free". You can never outlaw or regulate stupidty, if some parents are too stupid to control, teach and guide their offspring, well that too is a part of freedom. We live in a world where you have to take a class to get a license to drive, but you are not required to take any training to reproduce!

Self responsibility is another issue we could debate all day.........no one is responsible for themselves anymore.......blame this blame that...we have so many lawsuits full of people that are stupid and feel they are blameless.....parents need to teach more responsibility to their children, as well as become more responsible themselves........what happen to the term "you are responsible for your actions."

Guns don't kill people, people do..........now I agree that the assault weapons are a bit much, but I do agree to the right to bear arms......there are extremes on each side of this issue.....I would like to see tighter control of guns that are sold at gun shows, I would like to see tighter control of guns where classes are mandatory. But, the right to bear arms given to us in our Constitution will never ever be revoked.......we just need to tweak some rules.

I completely agree with MyHarley and Big Daddy. I also have a concealed weapons permit. Responsiblility is a key issue. If you have guns, you have practice due diligence in storing and in their use.

Outlawing weapons will only give the bad guys more power.
