My first BMW: 1997 528i No High Beams

97 528i No High Beams (is it a stalk unit?)

My mechanic over the phone suggested that I need a new 'stalk unit'. How involved is this installation? Should I get my own part or have the mechanic order the part?



(Headlights work, parking lights work, and high beam flasher works. Do you think it is the switch or the controller?

If it is the controller, I think I can live without them!)

When you "pull" on the stalk, the lights flash. - got it.

When you "Push" the stalk, they don't stay on?? Or am I mis-reading your post?

You are correct. When I 'push' the stalk, the regular lamps are on but no high beams.

Due to the overwhelming response to my problem that is now solved, I will share the complicated solution with all of you dying to know....

It was a fuse.
