Need a Radio

I can't stand it any longer, the radio in my [bmwkick] 89 325i snaps crackles and pops, the code won't stay, so it has to be reset everytime you start the car. sometimes you have to go through the hour sequence to set it. I know there has been some discussion regarding radios with the orange display being very expensive.

Forgetting about color of face plate any recommendations out there for a Radio/CD player? That would fit nicely and merge with the old speaker system?

I like to be a purist when I can afford it but the talk about the blauplunkt and the other japaneses name, just about drove me wild and I like my radio playing.
Thanks. [clap]

Ebay has a lot of great prices for used stereos.

Our cars take pretty standard car stereos thankfully. I would recommend re-wiring the speakers though. The front and rear speakers are set up on the same channel.... and with most stereos they have front and rear channels. But your E30 is newer then mine, maybe they changed this.

If your car is like mine all you have to do is unplug the speaker balance switch thats near the hazard light switch. Just figure out with set of wires run to the rear speakers and hook them up accordingly. All four speaker wires are at the back of that balance switch.

I hope I did not confuse you. Later.

Wow, I should not look a gift in the face and say no, but I really want a cd player and no cassett. But I sure appreciate the offer.

And thanks for the note on the speaker wiring. I'll get something worked out.

Im getting a Pioneer DEH-P8600 for my 318i. Overall Pioneers are premium headunits (all be it expensive) with the highest quality sound because of the MOSFET chip. I have a DEH-P7300 in my truck with 2 Memphis Studio 6.5"s in the doors and I often get complements on having a nice "system" in my truck. My dad has a DEH-P9300 in his Kenworth W900 with factory speakers and it sounds unbeliveablely better than many "systems" I've heard with different head-unit brands. (Alpine, Sony [hatchet] , Blaupunkt)

I had an alpine 9813 in my e30 on stock speakers, sounded amazing for being on stock speakers! The 9813 is still pretty expensive though.
