Hi need some help. I wire in a Jensen cd /fm radio in my 96 z3, but the music doesn't play. Can anyone give me a clue, the radio powers up, gets a signal, but the speakers don't seem to work. I even replaced the 5" speakers as one was old and torn. But haven't a clue. Does BMW run through a pre amp from the factory radio. Also how about the alarm system, or the blinking red light on the radio haven't got a clue on this either does it actually do anything. I once thought I could fumble my way through the ins and outs on cars but the Z3 is proving to be a challenge. Any help would certainly be much appreciated, driving is great especially since the weather is in the 70's, but with no music it does get depessing. Tks G

Well looks like I'll have to get the manual to look at the color codes on the wiring, as the colors change from the upper speakers to the lower speakers to the center console. I took it all out and started from scratch, this time trying to get continuity from the console to the speakers and couldn't find any. So I did the next best thing, I ran new speaker wire to the lower speakers and got music. I believe this will hold me off until I order the book and look at the color coding of the wires.
Now does anyone have any idea's about the alarm system or should leaving unplug do the trick. Here again I'll have to look at the codes. So I guess I should order the book. Tks G

you can use the power to the antenna wire coming from the radio to supply power to the amp, do you have a wire in the factory car harness that does not have a connection to it from the radio?

I have a 1989 BMW 525i. I was driving a Jeep with a banging system in it. I want to put the system in my bimmer but I heard it was mad hard. I have a Pioneer Head unit. I want to replace all the speakers and and I have a couple amps, a box and sub. Is this something I can do myself or do I need to take it somewhere?

My 528 came without a CD changer installed. There is a 3 pin loose wire in the saddle for the changer. I bought a Kenwood disc changer and a PPX Technology adapter. It has a place for both a 6 pin and 3 pin plug. I put the 3 pin in and it talsk to the computer, the changer functions but there is no sound. Is the 6 pin plug to the amp? I cannot find one back there. It eems as if they put the 3 pin one there that the 6 pin should be there too? Any ideas where I would find it if it is indeed necessary?
