I have ALWAYS wanted a Z3 coupe but it was never really within my means. I've never owned a Beemer but am now financially able....but still want one of those Z3 coupes.

I found a '99 2.8L coupe locally that has 7K miles. He's asking $24K. I looked on kbb.com and it said that this vehicle has a dealer retail value of $19.7K.

What is this car really worth? I know that it has very low miles but It's a little more than I want to pay for a 6 year old car. I'd appreciate any immediate advice that you can give.

NADA lists the value of the car from 19 - 22k. The Coupes are a little more rare than the roadsters and do carry a premium from what I have seen. That is some serious low miles, but keep looking. Are they willing to negotiate on the car? Check the Autotrader, and other online sites. Good luck, they are a great car!

Wow only 7K miles? Are you sure it has a clean title? Is it a private seller or dealer? Like Dan stated, checking autotrader.com, carmax.com or carsdirect.com would be a good start to guage the current market value.

Thanks guys.

I went and looked at the car today. It truly is a 7K mile vehicle. Still even smells new. The owner said that his BMW dealer called him one day in '99 and said, "look, we have these Z3 coupes on the lot and are having a bunch of trouble selling them...if you come down, we'll give you a great deal on it."

Seems like he had little interest in the car but sorta bought it spontaneously. He's a single guy and had 3 other cars and just didn't drive it much.

I offered to purchase the car for $22K. Seems like a good deal for a practically new car.
