i have a question for anyone that can help; i have a 91 bmw 318is... pictured here with the factory rims (15inchs)...

I bought these rims (17 inches)...

for some reason the hub size of the 17in rims doesnt match up snug like the stock 15's do. i figured they would be an easy on because i knew they were 4 lug, like my current rims. another prolbem is that the wrench that came with my jack for the lugs wont work with these rims, and the lugs are too short.

Are your holes in the new rims tapered? If they are and the neck on your lug bolts are they should center themselves when you tighten them up. Loose the wrench and get a socket.

read!

alright, so i took one of those rims to a local rim shop in downtown raleigh. He tells me that the rims arent even bmw rims. even though they have the emblem. i looked for the pattern or these rims, and couldnt find them anywhere else. has anyone seen them before? i am determined to make them fit my car. the guy at the shop also told me that if i put spacers on my axel, that it will cause vibarations too. here is what the inner side of the new rims look like...

what i'm talking about is how the hub size is wider towards the top of the rim. the spacer that i posted above fills in that gap and adds a 30mm plate to the offset of the rim. that alone is what the guy at the shop said would cause vibaration. this is a picture of the rim that is on my car right now, i was too lazy to take it off and picture the inner side of it, so i just took off the hub cover. the width of the hub is consistant though the entire rim. as opposed to being wider on the inner side.

anyone that knows about installing rims on an older BMW, please help me out here!

The rim on your car is a BMW rim and obvioously hub centric, notice the inner circle closest to the hub nut. I would return the wheels and get my money back from whoever told you that they were BMW wheels and would fit your car. Spacers do cause problems, vibrations, etc.
