Re: my 2003 525is (E39)
Intermittent problem with the 2 front windows.
After returning to locked car, will find either one or both of the front windows have dropped down approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
Have even seen it happen as I approach the vehicle.
As noted, the problem is intermittent, so when I presented it to my dealer service department, I got the usual "never heard of that " and they would have to see it in order to address it.
Now you just know that would never happen.
Has anybody had a similar problem, and if so, was it corrected?
Thanx for any feedback.

If you are holding your "unlock" button for a longer than necessary time you may be initiating the "all down" feature that opens all windows and sunroof when the unlock button is held down. Just a thought.

I feel your pain with the problem only being occassionally. I have forever had problems with my iDrive and cd player. When I listen to CD's the stupid thing cuts out every 30 secs or so...but when I bring it to the dealer, it works fine...pisses me off.

As far as your issue goes.....this will be expensive....but order a new key from the dealership. I can almost garrantee that your remote is faulty just as Abdoman suggested. At any rate...GOOD LUCK and [welcome]

Thanx.
Kinda sorta am reluctant to shell out big bucks for a problem that should be covered by the warranty.
But like you said, it only misbehaves when away from the dealer.

Just as bonswa93 stated,
it happened to me a few times, always both front windows. At first I was puzzled but then realized I must have held on too long on the unlock button.
