I see that later this year or soon a 335i will be released. I need a sedan and the 330i/xi seems like the obvious choice but will the 335i also be a sedan or a coupe/convertible like i see in all the pictures?

I'm in the army and currently stationed in Kuwait but my base is in Germany, the local military dealership over there is giving free shipping back to the states and a $4,500 discount to any personnel in the military off the base price for the 330xi which brings the price down to about $34,000. That means a fully loaded vehicle will be about $44,000. I return to Germany late this year and leave Feb 07, Im so sold on this 330 that I want to order it from Kuwait but I also want to wait and see what else bmw has 2 offer, what should i do? appreciate your help

The 335i will be the new turbo-engine coupe (2-door). The "C" is going to be dropped just like it was dropped for the 650i.

In other words, the next 335Ci will be the 335i. The 325i and 330i sedans are not being replaced, I believe.

If I were you, I'd wait on the coupe. However, if you cannot wait till July for the coupe, go ahead and get the sedan.

I am pretty sure that the 330i sedan will not become the 335i sedan...** BUT, BMW always surprises us at the last minute.**

So truly, I suggest you wait and see what happens. Do not buy the 330xi right now.

Best of luck!

From what I've read and seen on spy pictures over here in Europe there will be a 335i (twin turbo) sedan as well as a coupe. Don't forget the M3 will also be made in a sedan version. The gap between 330i and M3 engines is growing so they needed something in between.

I'm also considering purchasing the new 330, but am also wondering about the new 3.5 liter 300+ hp engine that will debut with the coupe. I test drove the 330i a few weeks and was very impressed with the car overall -- interior quality, driving dynamics, etc. However, although the car felt considerably more powerful than my current 170hp '99 325, the 255hp motor definitely lags compared to the Lexus IS350 (which I also test drove). The acceleration simply wasn't quite as quick as I expected or hoped. Of course, 0-60 in the low 6s is nothing to snear at, but it's not exactly head-of-the-class either, which is what I know the E90 is in all other categories besides acceleration. Don't get me wrong, I'm not even considering getting the IS, which is noticeably more cramped than the 3 but also noticeably quicker, but the power difference does bother me a bit.

Believe it or not, I actually prefer the four-door 330 over the coming coupe. After I found out about the 335, I called my salesman and he didn't offer any help, claiming he didn't know if the 3.5L motor would make its way in the sedan -- he then tried to reassure me that the 255hp would be plenty and that I shouldn't wait for something that might not happen. Maybe, but I'm willing to bet that BMW will likely drop the bigger motor in the sedan to get back up to speed with the IS, so to speak. I don't know, I think I might give it another year or so and see what happens. This way BMW can also get the kinks out of the nav. system, which I also plant to get. If not, does anybody know of any performance add-ons for the E90???

It's a relatively new model, the E90, so I don't think many performance add-ons are out yet.

But I definitely agree that you should wait atleast 6-12 months and see what happens.

Even if a 335i sedan never happens, the 335i coupe might just be too good to pass!

Wallie05, I share your same thoughts. Until I see more torque in the 330i, I will wait. Its the most well-rounded, but if you can't get past one important item like how your feel about the engine, I can't make that big of a decision. The value is not there for ME. The new turbo 3.0L engine will be perfect for me, giving some more HP, but more importantly, more torque across all RPMs. This will be an incredible car, and I'm sure after trying it, I couldn't live with a decision of buying the current 3.0L engine (my opinion). I am waiting for the 335i sedan, and am hoping it will be here Sept/Oct -- and since discussing value, this assumes the sedan will only be 2-3k more than the 330i, extra option made standard held aside. It seems very likely based on my extensive observation of all the forums and my analysis.
